The international film festival marks its decade milestone under the theme "Echoes". Seven days dedicated to competitive film screenings, cultural encounters, and special guests: Fortunato Cerlino honored with the Picentia Award, Mattia Zenzola receiving the Silver Ear, and Nathaly Caldonazzo as official godmother.

BATTIPAGLIA / VIETRI SUL MARE – Ten years of cinema, exploration, and shared storytelling. The Picentia Short Film Festival (PSFF) returns, preparing to spotlight its milestone tenth edition from September 21 to 27, 2026. This significant anniversary is celebrated through the theme "Echoes": an invitation to reflect on the traces, resonances, and enduring memories that moving images leave in time and within the audience.

The festival renews its widespread, community-driven formula, moving between the heart of Battipaglia — featuring its public squares, institutional venues, and gathering spaces in the Aversana and Belvedere neighborhoods — and the picturesque setting of the Villa Comunale in Vietri sul Mare, which will host open-air screenings and cultural events closely tied to the territory. Vibrant energy will also animate Piazza Aldo Moro, enriched this year by a wide array of activities dedicated to comics, outdoor sports, and interactive audience entertainment, alongside live radio broadcasts from the Glass Box.

True to tradition, the core of the festival remains its official screenings and competitive films. This year features 29 finalist short films selected from around the globe, competing across various categories: Picentia Award - Best Film, Discovery, Green, Southern Frames, First Lights, and the major new addition for this edition, the Over Time section entirely dedicated to medium-length and feature films. The works will be evaluated by an expert panel divided into a Technical Jury, Press Jury, and Youth Jury.

The lineup of guests brings together prominent figures from entertainment, cinema, and culture. The prestigious "Picentia Award - City of Battipaglia" will be presented to Fortunato Cerlino, an actor of extraordinary depth and an iconic face of international television series. The stage will also welcome Mattia Zenzola, the beloved dance and performance talent, who will receive the coveted Silver Ear award, while actress and showgirl Nathaly Caldonazzo will serve as the festival's official godmother. The event will feature several other prominent guests, including Salvatore Misticone, Carlo Caracciolo, Gianluca Spagnoli, Francesco Nicodemo, and Rita Rusciano, accompanied by live music performances.

“Reaching ten years of the festival is a profound milestone for us, built on immense behind-the-scenes work, overcome obstacles, and human encounters that have deeply enriched us,” state festival director Luca Capacchione and deputy director Francesco Effuso. “For this anniversary edition, we want to avoid self-celebration and instead refocus on what matters most to us: the films in competition, the directors who choose us, and the audiences filling the squares. We are thrilled to bring the energy of the PSFF across Battipaglia and Vietri sul Mare, offering an authentic space for independent cinema and dialogue that continues to grow year after year.”

Alongside the screenings, the program is completed by educational pathways for schools through Picentia For Schools, workshops for young jurors, and the events of the Picentia Books literary series, curated by Donato D’aiuto and Vincenzo Cennamo. Space is also dedicated to current affairs and local history through conferences on legality and special celebrations honoring the 100th anniversary of both the Salerno Airport and the ACI (Automobile Club d'Italia), reaffirming a festival deeply connected to its community.
